Soundwalks

Inspired by the power of gathering, Chromic Duo’s soundwalks transform public spaces into places of discovery and invite us to reimagine how we connect with each other and our communities.

Each soundwalk uses emerging technology to create a site-specific story tailored to the experiences of the communities chromic works with. Using site-specific GPS points to trigger music and stories based on the listener’s location, chromic brings a park and campus to life. Available via AR (Augmented Reality) and an audio-specific app for iOS + Android.

Chromic Duo’s soundwalks urge listeners to reconsider the day-to-day surroundings by slowing down to look at the familiar, allowing for the overlooked to be heard. 

Installations

Chromic Duo’s installations redefine public spaces as an invitation to slow down and savor the moments of the everyday. They work with universities, museums, and organizations dedicated to the health and civic spirit of their communities. Through their process of working across disciplines, they weave together interviews, stories, sound, psychology, and emerging tech, seamlessly into multimodal performances, installations, and activations that reflect the voices that have been left out.

Highlights include From Roots We Carry and StairWELL that create space for mental health and AAPI stories to be heard.

Performances

Ranging from performance rituals, dance pieces, and community co-creations, chromic duo weaves in music to bring communities together to create site-specific experiences with stories that need to be told. 

How can performance bring the community together?

By reimagining + pushing the concert hall beyond its edges. 

Through the culmination of performances, selections of chromic’s large-scale activations and soundwalks have been reorchestrated as living capsules that have been adapted for audiences to experience.
